Braemar Finance – one of our key competitors

May 30, 2022/in Blog/by Millie Newton

Braemar Finance are one of our key competitors here at WestWon Dental. Although they are one of our key competitors, unlike us, they offer finance for many professions. These include optical, legal, and veterinary professions as well several more. This differs to us here at WestWon Dental, as we specialise in the dental industry only. However, our parent company WestWon Limited can provide finance for a range of professions, as well as several services such as furniture and fit out, vehicle leasing (including EV charging points), IT, software, and business loans. All of these can be found on our WestWon assets we finance page.

Who are Braemar Finance?

In 1992, Braemar Finance was established. It quickly gained momentum, and it was soon one of the leading finance providers for UK profession businesses.

They specialise in leasing and asset finance, much like we do here at WestWon Dental. They have a significant amount of experience in this industry, and over the years have built strong relationships. Their current Managing Director is Aileen Boyle. She first joined as part of a small support team. She has spent most of her career at Braemar Finance.

Aileen was there playing a key role in the acquisition of Braemar Finance by Close Brothers in 2000. Close Brothers are a UK merchant banking group. They provide several services including lending, deposit taking and securities trading. Employing over 3,500 people, they are a huge company, most of whom are situated in the UK.

Why blog on the competitor?

Competition is always a good thing for any company. It’s also good for our customers, as they have more choice when looking for leasing and asset finance. It also means that we are always focused on offering the best customer experience for clients, as well as competitive pricing.

Our main aim is obviously not to blog on the competitor. However, we like to think we can rival these companies by maintaining our company values of 5* customer service. Here at WestWon Dental we make sure to never speak badly of another company, and this includes Braemar Finance.

Who is our new tree planting partner?

May 26, 2022/in Blog/by Millie Newton

Our current plantation numbers

At WestWon Dental, through our parent company WestWon Limited, we have now been a climate positive workforce for over 6 months now. Since January, the planting of trees and the offsetting of our employees’ carbon emissions has been positively impacting the planet. Our current goals are to plant 100,000 trees and reduce 7,500 tonnes from the atmosphere, both in the next 5 years. Setting this attainable but massive goal will be challenging. However, we know that with all the hard work and dedication, we will be able to do much more for the environment.

Our donations used to go directly to a company called Ecologi, who you will have heard us speak about many times before. However, now we have introduced a new reputable organisation who we will be working with. We have been working with Ecologi since the end of 2021. From now on, we will be donating to them to allow us to offset our employee’s emissions. This is how we will remain a climate positive workforce. Before we speak abo our new tree planting partner and who they are, we are delighted to share our current numbers!

  • 9,490 trees planted in the WestWon Woodland
  • 358.37 carbon tonnes reduced from the atmosphere

Who is our new tree planting partner?

Our new tree planting partner an organisation called Plant for the Planet. We will now be planting all our trees thro0ugh them. Being a youth led NGO means that they are able to have a different perspective on how to plant trees around the world. Making sure our choice of company was trustworthy was so important to us. However, being the company that the UN trusted enough to had over their “billion tree campaign” was reassuring enough! Only difference is, it’s now the “trillion tree campaign”.

This has meant Plant for the Planet is now a huge global advocate. Because of this, and all the amazing work they do, we now plant all of our trees through them. Using two companies instead of one is something that we feel will help us on our climate positive journey rather than hinder it.

The importance of our green agenda

There is no difference in the way we will be undertaking our green agenda. We will still be planting a tree for every month of a lease agreement that a customer undertakes. We are positive that our renewed changes will continue to have an impact on the world we live in. If you would like more information, please see our contact details below.

If you would like any more information on who our new tree planting partner is here at WestWon Dental, then please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us on 01494 611 456 or alternatively email us on [email protected].

An update on our green agenda

May 23, 2022/in Blog/by Millie Newton

Here at WestWon Dental our parent company WestWon Limited has teamed up with a company called Ecologi. With them, we plant a tree for every month of a lease agreement that a customer undertakes with us. We have now been running this scheme for the past 6 months! The reaction so far has been amazing, and we are very proud of our progress. In case you missed it, below is an update on our green agenda – otherwise known as the WestWon Woodland scheme.

A quick recap on our green agenda

Towards the end of 2021, WestWon Limited teamed up with Ecologi, who are a UK based social enterprise. As a company they help to plant trees both abroad and in the UK. WestWon Dental’s customers was included and still will be in the roll out of this scheme. This includes the sending of certificates at the start of each month.

As a company, Ecologi are very transparent. They are also provide details that help us and our customers to understand more about what we are doing. This includes the species of tree, its age and the location of the project where plantation has taken place.

So, how does WestWon Dental contribute, and why should we thank you? Well, when you proceed with a finance agreement, we will plant a tree for every month of the lease term in the WestWon Woodland.

We are sending out certificates to those who have taken part, as well as an extra chance to plant 10 more trees in the woodland if the certificate is reposted on LinkedIn.

Current numbers update

Our future goals to complete within the next 5 years:

To have planted 100,000 trees in our virtual woodland

To have reduced 7,500 tonnes from the atmosphere

Our current numbers:

So far, we have planted 9,490 trees in the WestWon Woodland

We have also reduced 358.37 tonnes of carbon from the atmosphere

Highest interest rates increase in over a decade

May 18, 2022/in Blog/by Millie Newton

Who increased interest rates in the UK?

On Thursday the 5th of May, the Bank of England increased interest rates. The Bank of England’s MPC (Monetary Policy Committee) was in charge of making the decision to do this. The MPC is consists of nine members. This includes people such as the Governor and the Chief Economist. Every member has one vote to cast. To help them make the correct decision, the Chancellor also appoints some external members. They make their decision based on a range of factors. Any monetary policies that haven’t been released by the Government yet are also included so they can make an informed decision.

The rate was around 0.5% before the start of Covid. The full list of figures can be seen below:

  • 2012 – August 2016 = 0.5%
  • August 2016 – November 2017 = 0.25%
  • November 2017 – July 2018 = 0.5%
  • July 2018 – March 2020 = 0.75%
  • March 2020 – December 2021 = 0.1%
  • December 2021 – February 2022 = 0.25%
  • February 2022 – March 2022 = 0.5%
  • March 2022 – April 2022 = 0.75%
  • May = 1%

According to industry experts, the rate is expected to rise to 2% by the end of this year. This is because of rising accumulative increase over the past few months.

Why have they risen?

There are many reasons why the MPC made this decision. One is the reopening of the world since the Covid pandemic where interest rates declined rapidly. On the other hand, due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the impact this has had on both gas and oil prices has been huge. This problem is expected to accumulate as the months go by.

What can you do about the rise in interest rates?

To secure your finance agreement now with fixed interest rates, feel free to reach out and contact us here at WestWon Dental. As seen above, interest rates are expected to rise over the next coming months, even until the end of the year. This is why now is the time for you to start thinking about arranging a finance agreement. Our fast and simple process enables you to be sent a quote immediately. Therefore, get in touch and one of our account managers be able to help you with your finance needs.

How to reduce your company’s carbon footprint

May 16, 2022/in Blog/by Jess Wells-Flint

Calculating your company’s carbon footprint

Your company’s carbon footprint is calculated by direct and indirect emissions. Now, you might ask, “what is the difference between direct and indirect emissions?”

Well, direct emissions include an individual’s actions that create carbon emissions. So, this can be from fossil fuelled home appliances such as boilers or furnaces to the vehicle that you drive. Whereas, indirect emissions is the carbon dioxide that is released into the atmosphere from organisations. These can include the carbon dioxide that is released from goods being transported to or from you. Or from the carbon emissions produced from purchased electricity/heat for your company’s premise.

The burning of fossil fuels is the main culprit when it comes to human produced carbon dioxide emissions. This is why more and more people and companies are looking towards sourcing their energy sustainably.

Cutting down on your carbon footprint will not only meet customer demands of a more sustainable planet, but will also save you money in the long run! Especially with the ever-rising costs of oil.

To start with…

As a first step, you will need to pinpoint where your primary sources of carbon pollution derive from. You should calculate this including indirect emission sources. Did you know that companies are responsible for over 70% of the world’s GHG emissions as a whole? For example, the completed lease agreements on fossil fuelled vehicles at WestWon Dental will also contribute to this.
So thankfully, businesses pledged to take more responsibility on saving our planet at the COP 26 meeting in November 2021. Read more about the conclusions of the COP26 meeting here.

How can I make a difference as an individual?

There are many ways by which you can contribute to a healthier planet for us all. Although you may see yourself as a needle in a haystack, your change of lifestyle could potentially influence those around you. This could then create a butterfly effect, and gradually humanity can change their lifestyles for the future of our planet.

Here are some small changes that could have a big impact:
  •  Buy local
  • Increase your usage of public transport
  • Contribute to the purchase of preloved products
  • Recycle- whether that be at home or in the workplace
  • Turn down your heating- even if this is just by 1 degree
  • Consider vegetarian or vegan options. This can be for only a fraction of the week!
  • Install renewable sources of energy

Our green agenda

Here at WestWon, we are doing our best to do our bit for the environment. That’s why we made the WestWon Woodland. As of current, … trees are already planted the Woodland. We have made the Woodland so that joined forces with our clients, we can make the world we live in a better place. This meaning you can help out too! For every lease agreement made through us, we will plant one tree for each month!

We understand that renewable energy can be an expensive upfront cost. If you would like to explore renewable energy finance options for your business, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Call us on 01494 611 456. Or, send an email to [email protected] briefly outlining your needs.

How Sale and Leaseback Could Benefit your Dental Business

April 25, 2022/in Blog/by Millie Newton

Want to know more about how sale and leaseback could benefit your Dental business? Look no further. Sale and leaseback can also be known as equipment refinancing. In terms of improving your cash flow, it’s extremely fast and effective. It enables the cash that you have reimbursed to go towards other projects or areas in your company. We are confident that this service is beneficial for all sizes of business, and we can work with you to help you and to implement this.

So, how does it work?

  1. Firstly you contact WestWon Dental and let us know what you have purchased in the last 6 months. Also include the purchase price as well as how long the term needs to be.
  2. After we have received this information, we can give you a free no obligation finance quote.
  3. Once you are ready to proceed, either send us an email or call us and we can look to obtain a credit acceptance within 48 hours.
  4. You will then sign the agreement and send it back to us. This will get the next part of the process started.
  5. Once finalised we can process all the paperwork, and the full capital amount is deposited into your chosen bank account.
  6. Your payments will then begin on a monthly basis.

Key points to consider:

  • The asset itself has to have been  purchased in the last 6 months.
  • Multiple invoices and several dental equipment pieces can be included under the same lease deal.
  • The original invoices where payment has been made will need to be included.
  • Funds are also released directly into your chosen bank account.

The advantages

  • The process is simple and fast, as we look to have approval to you within the first 24 hours.
  • With this, there is less risk. This means the interest rates are usually lower.
  • There is no need to use an existing line of credit. A sale and leaseback doesn’t affect any invoice discounting either.
  • It’s a lease rather than a bank funding line. We will lease the equipment back to you, and this makes sure it won’t fall under any possible restrictions.
  • You will still have full use of the asset.
  • There are huge VAT and tax benefits. Not only this, but all the monthly payments are tax deductible!

Can you finance equipment from a value of £1,500?

April 18, 2022/in Blog/by Millie Newton

Can you finance equipment from a value of £1500? The short answer is yes, however, there are several factors that can alter this, which are discussed below.

What is the minimum value at which you can lease equipment in the UK?

Throughout the UK different leasing companies all have different policies on whom they lend to. This also includes what kind of assets they provide finance for. This therefore impacts their minimum lease value.

Some have a minimum lease value of either £2,000 or £3,000, however ours can offer finance from a value of £1,500.

Why do companies not like financing equipment under a value of £3,000?

Without complicating the matter, leasing and finance companies have to lend money to stay in business. Their amount of deals would decrease if they leased under £3,000. This is because they would have to write a larger number of deals to reach the same amount of money as they would if the value was bigger.

This is why most leasing companies wish to focus on bigger value deals. Therefore cash flow is steadily maintained, essential for the running of any business.

However, there are always costs involved including for underwriting, managing the deal and processing. Often leasing companies will divide their cost base by the number of deals they write every year, which normally costs around £150-£250. This could counteract the leasing company’s money they make on a deal. They then end up losing money which is why smaller deals are usually less common.

So, why would a leasing company arrange a lease for £1,500 if they are going to lose money?

The importance of customers is what keeps leasing companies agreeing to such small deals. They offer a service to their end user customers, suppliers and partners. They can always make the profit up elsewhere in their business. It also keeps competition out of their accounts, and away from their customers.

Why do WestWon Dental offer leasing for capital equipment values £1,500?

There are three reasons for this, seen below:

Here at WestWon Dental we pride ourselves on quality customer service. Making sure the customer is happy at the start, during and end of the agreement is our first priority, so any finance needs you have, we will take care of it. At WestWon Dental we build relationships with suppliers that matter.

Avoiding the smaller deals, you cut out a lot of business and relationships that could lead to better business in the future. It also keeps the competitor out. We are interested in what our end user customer base looks like. Smaller business customers will no doubt grow, then come back to us further down the line for help with larger finance deals.

We use echo sign documentation for speed purposes as well as collecting the rentals via direct debit. Our state of the art CRM system and partner portal allows us to have a fast and efficient process.

Our 6 month deferred payment option

April 11, 2022/in Blog/by Kate Fuller

As we kick off 2022, we wanted to start the year with supporting everyone within the Dental sector.

WestWon are offering the chance to purchase any dental equipment with a deferred payment option of 6-months deferred payments.

We have several finance options that could help your business to grow. At WestWon we are always on the lookout for options that may make your life easier. Here at WestWon, we are always thinking of new options to support our dental community. We make sure there is always a solution to whatever finance needs you may have. In the dental sector especially, this option of deferred payments has really taken off and is proving a popular choice. Especially with imaging equipment and new dental chairs.

What are deferred payments and what does this include?

The deferred payments are payments that are partially postponed for a number of months. This might be to support the opening of a new surgery to help it become established prior to any repayments. It could also be used for a CBCT enabling the Practice to benefit from a true return on investment. Also, Impression scanners, helping the teams to get to grips with the equipment prior to any repayments starting.

We have laid out a few key points below in respect to the offer:

  • Anything over the value of £5,000 qualifies.
  • Only new equipment qualifies.
  • If you buy now, the repayments will not begin until June 2022.
  • Supplier Deposits can also qualify.
  • Enables the equipment to be installed and the practice to benefit from the investment prior to any repayments beginning.
  • Available to all suppliers.
  • If a client has received a Moratorium payment holiday, this could affect the offer. The standard agreement period for the asset type is not to be extended.
  • Purchasing the equipment now (January), means you have nothing to pay until June giving you five months of zero payments. Purchasing equipment in March would mean you are left with four months of zero payments.

Contact Us

If you would like any information on the above details, then please call 01494 611 456. We can provide you with any information on this 6 month deferred offer payment option. We would be happy to talk through all finance options with you. If this sounds like something you would like to discuss then you can alternatively email [email protected].
